The Humans at OysterCat

Holly Riehm, Founder & Head of Social

Holly has been working in marketing and social media since graduating from the University of South Carolina in 2015. With a major in visual communications and a minor in graphic design, she knew her love for brand aesthetics, witty comments, and impulse to capture every moment would lead her to a future in social media. Before officially starting her own agency at the top of 2023, she led brand and marketing strategy through email, partnerships, creative assets, and social media for influencer-developed product brands, local hospitality and e-commerce businesses, as well as the canned mimosa and sangria company, Ohza. There, she led their brand marketing for their national roll-out and celebrity partnership launch.

Tim Riehm, Operations & Socials

Some may say Tim’s journey to social media is just a tad untraditional. After graduating from high school as valedictorian (gasp!), he graduated from Clemson University with a degree in bio-engineering. After spending a few years in a lab, he did what any scientist would do and moved to Nashville to pursue music. While seeing much success as a songwriter and musician, Tim’s desire to learn, outstanding management skills, and wide-spread interests inspired him to join the social media marketing business. At OysterCat he tracks all marketing calendars, finds ways to implement more efficient processes, tracks analytics and marketing patterns, edits content, and has a quick grammatical eye for polished copy and communication.

What We’re About

After spending my 20’s working in nearly every realm of digital media, I stumbled into the role of being a “jack of all trades” of sorts when it came to marketing. I soon discovered that’s both a blessing and a curse because, after being stretched into so many responsibilities in previous positions, I realized that the perfect role—one that allowed me to use that broad skill-set to its full potential in the ways that I knew would work—just wasn’t going to come up on Indeed or LinkedIn.

As the world of marketing only grows and becomes more demanding with new platforms, trends, and noise to be made for your brand to survive, social media is now—most definitely—a job that requires a flexible and versatile scope of experience. Fortunately, I realized, I had that!

In an extremely coincidental manner (and seemingly, through some spooky universe magic), I re-connected with old friends and bosses at the start of 2023 and shifted my mindset from finding a job to creating a career. And thus, OysterCat was born! My network was networking and referrals were happening—so much so that halfway through the first year, I recruited my husband to help with bulking content before leaving on our honeymoon. And guess what? He stayed (for the benefits of course), and we’ve been thriving ever since.

Now, I know that was a lot, so if you’re still reading, you’re a real one. And it’s obvious that, like us, you value an origin story—that series of stepping stones, unique to everyone, which brings each of us, wherever we are, to our current moment. For that reason, it goes without saying (but I’ll say it anyway) that we pride ourselves in offering an extremely personal and caring approach to social media—to engaging with communities both new and old who are interested in living (and growing) with a brand for years and years. We truly believe that’s the only way to do this job, which, at its core, is simply connecting on a level that resonates with a community.

So, if you think we might play a supporting role in your story, we’d love to hear from you. And if you’ll have us, we can help you tell it!
